-

The project presented here is a scientific initiative that seeks, in general, to obtain a set of archaeological data, collected from scientific methods, in the areas of archeology and history, which allow, on the one hand, provide a better and better understanding of the archaeological site of the Necropolis of Touças, also known as the “Moorish Cemetery” (CNS: 4425) and, on the other hand, using the data obtained and the reflection made, program and materialize a public initiatives for the enhancement, dynamization and dissemination of the archaeological site.

The scientific relevance of the project, in our opinion, lies above all in the fact that it is a project that seeks, as we have already mentioned, to value a very relevant archaeological site for the understanding of the High Middle Ages and the Middle Ages in general in the region. Sabrosa It is an archaeological site whose information and knowledge has not changed in the last 100 years. This fact occurs not because the site is exhausted in terms of archaeological information, but because of the lack of initiatives on it. The production of scientific knowledge for this site is, in fact, incipient.
