The project we designate as “Contextualização e Valorização da Necrópole das Touças: C.O.V.A.S. de Sabrosa”, seeks, above all, and through programmed archaeological excavations and systematic archaeological exploration in the area surrounding the archaeological site, to obtain contextual information that makes it possible to add relevant data for a better understanding of the archaeological site of the Touças Necropolis. In short, through the interpretation of archaeological data collected in archaeological interventions of the type of drilling or excavation, to be carried out between the years 2019 and 2023, we aim to contextualize the archeological space a little better, the ultimate objective being, based on in the information collected in excavation and its interpretation, elaborate various didactic and scientific events and elements (articles, posters, workshops, exhibitions, site visits, among others) in order to enhance, disseminate and dynamize the archaeological site.
Despite being an archaeological site significantly important for the understanding of material elements, especially structural, related to funerary practices in the Middle Ages and / or in the Modern Period, it is undeniable that it is also a site completely relegated to a plan, in the bibliography scientific and academic documents produced, irrelevant.
The project is promoted by AHAS (Sabrosa History and Archeology Association) and its main partners are the Sabrosa City Council, CIDEHUS (Interdisciplinary Center for History, Cultures and Societies | University of Évora) and the S. Martinho Parish Council of Anta and Paradela de Guiães.
